  • Think about all the things we’ve used to try and feel better:

Expensive holidays, pricey cars and gadgets, steep mortgages, spur-of-the-moment shopping sprees, extravagant meals with a few too many cocktails - the list goes on and on.

And while they look good and shiny on the surface, they’re all an attempt to feel a certain way - to feel better about who we are, the work we do, and the life we’re living - often through numbing out and avoidance.

Yet people are scared to invest in coaching, likely because coaching is such an incredibly brave and courageous thing to do.

It’s saying: “I’ve had enough of this.”

It’s proclaiming: “I’m determined to make a change that lasts.”

And it’s shouting: “No, I want more from life than this b.s.”

Let’s be real: vacations make us feel great, but they only last for a couple of weeks a year.

On the other hand, coaching gives us those same good feelings, but for life.

  • If you’ve signed up for a zillion ‘Change Your Life, in 3 Steps!” ebooks (and not bothered to read them), or if you’re sick to death of feeling out of whack in your work and life, painfully aware that you’re squandering your potential, and frustrated as you watch everyone else move forward with their lives while you’re not, coaching is for you.

For most people, the very reason they’re drawn to coaching - because they’re feeling half-hearted about work/life and indecisive - is the very reason that keeps them from deciding whether to actually get coaching.

To help you with your decision, let’s talk. Coaching is a little bit like buying a pair of shoes, let’s make sure that my coaching is the right fit for you.

If, at the end of our conversation, I’m not the coach for you, there are no strings attached - we simply say our goodbyes and that’s it - no drama.

And rest assured, I won’t send you any cringe-worthy, pushy sales emails afterwards. And that’s a promise!

  • I coach people who want to describe their life as more than just “fine”.

After all, “fine” is a word to describe a mediocre lunch, not your work or your entire life.

I coach people who, on the outside, seem and look completely put together - and yet on the inside, they feel all over the place.

Sometimes, my clients know why they’re feeling all over the place, and other times the reason needs some digging and detective work.

I coach people who are switched-on and understand themselves well enough to know that the apathy and frustration they feel isn’t something that can be helped by a glass (or bottle) of wine, or numbing-out by binge-watching shows on Netflix all day long. And they know it’s not something they can “just get over”.

I coach people who recognize that something needs to change in order to feel better about their work and their lives, and they’re ready and willing to do whatever it takes to get there (within reason).

I’m hopeful, but not delusional. This means I work with reality, and if you’ve got a mortgage and 3 kids, I won’t tell you to quit your job to become a full-time knitter of tiny tuxedos for squirrels.

If you’ve had enough of spinning your wheels trying to “fix” things that never seem to get fixed, rolling your eyes at the people you work with (and the person you report to!), or wanting to bang your head against the nearest wall, I can help.

Wanting to change is enough, and coaching with me will get you there. There’s a lot of big-hearted, no-nonsense guidance included :)

However, I’m probably not the coach for you if:

    You’re expecting coaching to be a quick-fix, 10-step plan, and spoon-fed process. It’s not.

While you will indeed learn concrete, practical strategies and tools that you can use right away, coaching with me goes deep - it’s a safe place for you to show your fascinating and messy and complicated humanness.

Moving forward means straight-up honesty from me, and I promise that getting underneath the excuses and digging into the real stuff is the ticket to helping what’s standing on your way.

Finally, I’m probably not the coach for you if you’re expecting me to do all the work for you. I put everything I have into the coaching process and I expect my clients to do 100% the same.

  • The short answer is yes and yes.

My professional credentials include 170 hours of coach training, and 10+ years of experience as an accredited coach.

I am trained and certified as an Adler Coach (accredited by the ICF, International Coaching Federation) and a certified Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Additionally, over the past 25 years, I have done my own extensive personal work which includes therapy and extensive personal development. I also have training in meditation and mindfulness, traditional eastern medicine, and other modalities.

On the work side of things, I’m a tech veteran and spent 16 years in progressive and leadership roles within the technology and digital sector, including being on the founding team of Netscape’s Canadian operations during the ‘wild west’ days of the early tech boom. I have also worked in the corporate/business world in several different industries including financial services and international hotel management.

As a coach, I am insured under a reputable and respected Professional Coaches Program.

I’ve been featured on LeadDev.com and honored to have 55+ stellar client reviews.

Unlike other approaches, I strongly believe in getting to the root of every situation.

My signature approach is grounded in practical, positive psychology, a compassionate trauma-informed lens, science-based coaching, and a wealth of valuable personal and professional experience.

And while I have the “fancy paper” (i.e. credentials), I am a life-long learner and take my ongoing personal and professional development very seriously.

No matter where you are in your personal and professional journey, you can trust that I will treat you with the utmost respect, kindness, and compassion.

  • While therapy (i.e., psychotherapy) and coaching may appear similar at first glance, they are not the same.

    • Therapy is designed to help you work through past experiences that may be causing issues such as depression, anxiety, or trauma. It often involves a lot of focus on the past.

    • Coaching, on the other hand, is primarily focused on the present and future, and on moving forward to create your future. It is centered on your personal growth and professional development to help you get unstuck and achieve your desired goals.

Imagine you're in a car at point A. The coaching process is about gaining clarity on where point A is and then determining where point B is for you. Together, we'll find the best route to get there and identify any blockages in the engine of the car (such as limiting beliefs). Coaching equips, empowers, and enables you with fresh insights and practical new skills and tools to help you overcome specific challenges and achieve the goals that matter to you.

Coaching also provides you with the support of an empathetic and compassionate partner with the expertise and wisdom to help you expand your self-awareness, self-trust, and the confidence to help you get where you want to be.

There may be instances where certain therapy and coaching styles overlap, such as exploring your psyche. However, my coaching approach only delves into the past in an investigative manner so that we can get clarity about any clunky "legacy software" (i.e. old core beliefs) that may still be running your “personal OS” which would benefit from a major software upgrade, so to speak :)

It is important to note that coaching does not replace professional psychological assistance.

If you feel that you are experiencing mental health issues, please do not delay contacting your primary healthcare physician.

Want more information on coaching, how it works and my signature process? Check out the following videos located further down this main page:

    • “What is the essence of coaching?”

    • “How does coaching work?”

    • “1:1 coaching programs tailored to your specific needs.”

    • “What sets me apart as a leadership coach.”

  • First and foremost: Neither your coaching program nor your weekly coaching sessions are cookie-cutter or one-size-fits-all!

Your coaching program is personal, 1:1, and tailored to your specific needs and goals as a unique individual and human being.

We start with the Foundation Session (via Zoom).

This is an important immersive kick-off session during which you and I will get to know one another and gain deeper clarity around the challenges you want to tackle, and the goals you want to achieve.

Next, we meet once a week for your 60-minute Coaching Session (via Zoom) to tackle the obstacles blocking the way to your goals, growth, and success.

Your weekly coaching session is driven by your agenda (not mine) and the specific challenge you want to work on that particular day.

The underlying process guiding each coaching session is:

    1. Objectives

    2. Deep insight

    3. Action & Accountability (which may include homework between coaching sessions)

    On-Going Support

In-between our scheduled coaching sessions, you also have access to additional support (should you need it) via direct contact with me via text message and/or email for the duration of your coaching program.

    The “Bat Phone”

Depending on your program, you also receive access to urgent support via the “Bat Phone” for those days when sh*t hits the figurative fan and what you need most is an immediate old-fashioned phone conversation with me to work through the urgent issue you’re facing.

  • As your coaching program is tailored to your specific needs and goals, the program cost will be reflected accordingly.

Programs start at US$1,080 (plus applicable taxes). I’m happy to provide further details during your complimentary Discovery Call.

Will my employer pay for this?

Yes. Because (in most cases) you’re sitting on “free money” :)

Most employers offer generous benefit programs that include a personal annual budget (per employee) for continuing education/training and professional development. The cost of professional coaching is covered by this.

Note: While many employers are cutting costs right now, most tech companies remain 100% committed to taking care of their people by investing in their growth and professional development.

  • I take my clients’ privacy and confidentiality very seriously and hold myself to the highest ethical standards.

In addition, as a coach I am insured under a reputable and respected Professional Coaches Program.

Our agreement re confidentiality is detailed in the official coaching agreement which will be sent to you as part of the initial paperwork (which formalizes our work together). This coaching agreement stipulates that our sessions are protected as confidential, as is any and all information specific to you and your coaching program.

  • Ah! We all want guarantees in life, don’t we?! :) There’s a saying I love: “You can’t pay someone to do your push-ups for you”.

So, while I cannot guarantee specific results, in my 10+ years as professional coach, I can confidently state that many of my clients start to see results in as little as a few weeks from the start of their coaching program.

What I can guarantee is that I am 100% committed to you and you can count on me to be in your corner to the full extent of my abilities over the course of our work together.

That said, coaching isn’t a magic pill. Your personal results will depend on how much of yourself you bring to the process and how much you’re willing to put in.

Each coaching program is tailored to address your specific priorities, challenges, and needs, as together we work towards achieving your desired outcomes and results.

  • I’m based in Toronto, Canada and work with clients across the US, Canada, and globally via Zoom and phone. In other words, lots of different time zones!

I ask that you aim to cancel a coaching session at least 24 hours in advance so that your session may be rescheduled.

That said, I also get that “life/sh*t happens”, and my clients know that I am genuinely empathetic, compassionate, and understanding when you’re experiencing situations beyond your control. So, we’ll take things as they come.

In my experience, I find that we’re always able to re-schedule sessions in a way that works for both of us and within reason :)
